No ka 'Elepaio Kolohe is the first in a series of traditional Hawaiian stories retold for today’s learners. In this bilingual tale, 'Elepaio pecks a hole in Kanaka's water gourd, provoking the man to throw a rock at him. ‘Elepaio flits about the forest trying to get sympathy from the other birds. In the end, 'Elepaio learns that when you do bad things to others, bad things come back to you. This story, part of the Ku'una Series, is presented in partnership with Hale Kuamo’o Hawaiian Language Center at the University of Hawai'i-Hilo.

The naughty 'Elepaio learns the consequences of his mischief and arrogance.
