About the Author
Robert Lono ‘Ikuwä is a native of Kalaoa, Kona, Hawai‘i. He graduated from Kamehameha Schools and is currently a doctoral candidate at Brigham Young University. An experienced Hawaiian language teacher and kumu hula, Mr. 'Ikuwä acknowledges the küpuna of Kona, Hawai‘i and Koolauloa, Oahu as his foundation for language, scholarship, and storytelling.
About the Illustrator
Matthew Käwika Ortiz grew up in La‘ie on O‘ahu. He is thankful to Akua for his loving family, his parents’ nurturing his love of art, and his memories of drawing while his mother read to him. Matt received his bachelor of fine arts from the University of Hawai‘i–Mänoa and is living his dream of being an artist.
